Several other employers are planning on adding this benefit as of January 1, 2012: Bath Iron Works, Mercy Hospital, LL Bean, Bowdoin College and Idexx.

Fluoride varnish is covered as a preventive care service at 100% of the lesser of maximum allowance or the physician's charge for children up to the age of 42 months. Fluoride varnish can be applied to the teeth of children under the age of 42 months, beginning with the eruption of the first tooth twice per calendar year.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has changed the name of the Section on Pediatric Dentistry and Oral Health. The Section will be named the Section on Oral Health, or SOOH. This change in the name better reflects the AAP's overall efforts to improve children's oral health.
